Futsal Court Specification – Everything You Want to Know About Futsal Court

Futsal is a variant of association football that is played on a smaller pitch indoors. Its name is a portmanteau of the Portuguese indoor football and the Spanish fútbol de salón, which can be translated as “hall football” or “indoor football.”

The second world championships were held in Madrid in 1985-the name fútbol Sala was used. Since then, all other terms have been officially and internationally changed to futsal.

  • What is futsal?

Futsal is played between two teams, each with five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other kinds of indoor football, the game is played on a hard-court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used.

Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular football. The surface, ball, and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity, and technique, as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.

  • What are the Surfaces for Futsal Court?

As futsal is an indoor sport where natural grass does not grow, almost all futsal courts use synthetic flooring. For the futsal surface, we provide two options:

  1. Artificial football grass
  2. Modular interlocking floor.

We mainly talk about artificial football grass for futsal.

All artificial football turfs used outdoor can be used for indoor futsal as well. These artificial football turfs used indoor can last longer because of better weather conditions for indoor use (no rain and UV).

  • Why artificial football turf is more recommends or used than others?

As mentioned above, all our football turf is perfect for futsal court, especially; we recommend our professional non-infill football grass for five-a-side or three-a-side futsal. It provides a high-performance, no-maintenance surface. Besides, non-infill football grass can be installed faster and easier.

  • The Dimensions of a Futsal Court?

A futsal court is generally 40 meters long, while the width is around 20 meters. This means that the penalty areas are more significant in a futsal court than in other courts. So, the notion that courts have the exact dimensions stands corrected.
